Welcome to Reishinkan! Reishinkan was founded by Yoshiyuki Usami in 2011 at a small dojo in North Ryde with a group of Kendo enthusiasts from the Sydney Kendo Club. Our dojo is currently located at East Roseville (see Location).

We abide by 礼法 and 作法, and our members are encouraged to respect towards each other with proper manners and etiquette's as well as mutually improve one’s Kendo techniques in a friendly training environment.

Kendo is physically challenging, but rewards us with self-discipline and mental alertness. Our focus is not scoring points and winning in competition but rather continually improve our technique and building character (formation of self) by understanding the theory and logic of Kendo (way of sword), which ultimately improves self-control and the quality of daily life.

Beginners are always welcome to experience this authentic Japanese way of forming “spirituality” and “self” through the practice of Kendo with the total blend of body, mind and spirit. Beginners are catered for with their own step by step program coached by experienced instructors.

We emphasize basic Kendo with the aim to master correct basic forms leading towards successful grading results assessed by NSW Kendo Association.
Reishinkan is affiliated with the NSW Kendo Association under Australian Kendo Renmei (AKR) and International Kendo Federation (FIK).

In this regard, we implement 木刀による基本技稽古法 and 剣道形 and train wearing 剣道防具. We believe 鈴心館 Reishinkan provides a unique Kendo school in Sydney.

Please feel free to come and watch our training. We all look forward to seeing you there!
